  4. ITIL Transformation

This path is particularly relevant for professionals involved in product delivery, service performance, customer outcomes, and organisational improvement.

ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5)

The ITIL Strategic Leader path is designed for leaders and decision-makers who need to align digital strategy, governance, investment, and transformation with business value.

To achieve the designation, candidates complete:

• 1. ITIL Strategy
  2. ITIL Transformation

This path is especially relevant for executives, senior managers, transformation leaders, and professionals shaping digital direction at organisational level.

Already certified as ITIL 4 Managing Professional?

A dedicated ITIL Managing Professional Transition (Version 5) module is planned for professionals who already hold the ITIL 4 Managing Professional designation. This route is designed to help experienced candidates transition to ITIL (Version 5) without having to start again from scratch. The module introduces the core concepts of ITIL 5 and covers key updates from ITIL Experience, ITIL Product, ITIL Service and ITIL Transformation. According to the official ITIL guidance, the module is currently in the final stages of validation, and further details will be shared once confirmed.

• ITIL 4 DSV (Drive Stakeholder Value) → closest match: ITIL Experience, gives experience management a much stronger and more explicit place in the framework
• ITIL 4 DPI (Direct, Plan and Improve) → closest match: ITIL Product, brings together themes related to product thinking, lifecycle governance, digital delivery, and cross-functional collaboration
• ITIL 4 HVIT (High-Velocity IT) → best fit: ITIL Product as a secondary bridge
• ITIL 4 DITS (Digital and IT Strategy) → closest match: ITIL Strategy, continues the leadership and strategic direction perspective

New to ITIL?

If you are new to the framework, the entry point is ITIL Foundation (Version 5).

Already ITIL 4 certified?

ITIL 4 certifications remain valid and recognised. Existing ITIL 4 candidates can use their current certification as a basis for progressing into the new ITIL (version 5) advanced modules.

Already an ITIL 4 Managing Professional?

For candidates who already hold the ITIL 4 Managing Professional designation, a dedicated transition module is planned to provide a clear upgrade path into ITIL (Version 5). This module is intended to build on existing knowledge and cover the main developments introduced in Experience, Product, Service, and Transformation. Official ITIL guidance states that it is currently in the final stages of validation.

For advanced ITIL (version 5) modules, accredited training or official eLearning is required, in line with PeopleCert requirements.
